Queries and limitations

  • MongoDB 4.0-compatible CRUD, BSON values, indexes and aggregation.
  • CommonJS require and ES-module default import.
  • No server-side JavaScript, $where or JavaScript mapReduce.
  • No replica-set multi-document transactions or change streams.
  • No Atlas Search or automatic access to operators introduced in newer server versions.
  • The limited Linux prototype is a developer experiment, not the supported full-native customer distribution.

Windows test suiteResult
Unit / security / compiled crypto and helpers35 passed, 0 failed/skipped
Final native single-file integration10 passed, 0 failed/skipped
Final earlier-format compatibility18 passed, 0 failed/skipped

The complete Windows workflow passed on 19 October 2026 in run 39260874503, tested code commit 1cf4c8d81c271ab85cdadd84ebac998101712ab1. Source and final-bundle cases overlap; the counts are not a claim of independent security certification.

Remaining release validation

A release candidate

Clean Windows Home/Pro PCs, packaged Electron/installers, cross-PC restore, power-loss/disk-full behavior and independent storage/cryptography review remain pending. The test runner was Windows Server 2022, not every compatible customer OS.

MongoDB 4.0 is end-of-life. BsonLite adds its own encryption and lifecycle wrapper but does not supply upstream server maintenance. Read the security model and keep tested encrypted backups before relying on the SDK in an offline product.
