BsonLite Console

Install the desktop workspace, connect by URL, use the terminal CLI and uninstall through Windows.

Install and open Console

  1. Download BsonLite Console .exe.
  2. Run the installer. It creates desktop and Start Menu shortcuts named BsonLite Console.
  3. Open the app using either shortcut. A second launch focuses the current window.

The desktop app includes its own runtime. Reinstall repairs a missing desktop shortcut. The current setup is unsigned.

Connect to your application

  1. Start an application using updated BsonLite.cjs or the bsonlite-sdk npm package.
  2. Leave it running under the same Windows account as Console.
  3. Select the running database and click Connect.

The URL is filled automatically and stays visible. Use its Copy button when needed. With multiple apps, use the dropdown. A stopped app has no live connection to discover.

Use a connection URL

You can enter a bsonlite://, mongodb:// or mongodb+srv:// URL. Options lets you select a default database, CA certificate and client certificate/private-key PEM. Certificate and hostname checks stay enabled.

Saved connection profiles use supported encrypted OS storage. App links change after the owning app restarts. Keep bearer-token URLs private.

Browse and run queries

Choose a collection from the explorer. Use filters, sort, pagination, table/JSON view and index lists. The query console accepts one supported expression per run:

javascript
show collections
db.users.find({}).limit(25)
db.users.insertOne({name: "Atik"})

Connections start read-only. Turn off Read-only in Options and apply/reconnect before writes. Supported operations still depend on the database and permissions.

Optional terminal CLI

Download the CLI package, then:

powershell
npm install -g ./bsonlite-cli-0.3.0.tgz
bsonlite
# Use bsonlite --write to allow changes.

From the source checkout, use npm run cli. The CLI requires Node.js 20.19+.

Uninstall

Choose BsonLite Console in Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps, or Control Panel → Programs and Features, then Uninstall. The application and shortcuts are removed; saved profiles are retained. The owning BsonLite app manages its database independently.

Nothing appears?

Confirm your BsonLite app is running, uses automatic Console discovery and shares the same OS account. Restart an app after upgrading its file/package. Check console: false and BSONLITE_CONSOLE=0 overrides. You can always enter a valid authorized URL manually.
